Warren Towers, located on Commonwealth Avenue, is the largest dormitory on the Boston University campus. It houses approximately 1800 students, making it the second-largest non-military dormitory in the country. During the summer, Warren Towers is also used to house high school students who are currently enrolled in summer programs at BU.
From the outside, you can see the three soaring towers, all of equal distance from each other. Walking in, you see a set of escalators: one climbing up and one descending. Using the escalators, you can go to the fourth floor, using your BU terrier ID to grant you access to the rooms and the cafeteria.
Next, you see the study lounge and on your left, there are elevators to go up to B tower. You get in the elevator and get out on a floor. Two long hallways on both sides of the elevator with different colored doors. Each room has the same set of furniture on each side: A bed, a desk and a chair, and a closet, and a drawer. The rooms are very spacious and very hot, especially during the summer. From the windows, you can see the entire BU campus and the river.
Now, what does a high school student think about living in Warren Towers? Does it exceed their expectations of what a university dormitory looks like?
“When I first arrived at BU, I was impressed while walking in the Warren Towers,” Olivia Hunter, a BU Summer Challenge student said. “ I have loved living here so far and I love how the cafeteria is so easily accessible, especially from B towers, where it’s right around the corner,” Hunter stated. After being asked if there was anything unpleasant about the towers, she said, “I don't like how there’s no air-conditioning, especially since opening the windows and having fans don’t help much.”
“I think Warren Towers is so pretty. Looking at it for the first time made me want to come to Boston University for college,” another student, Camila Faro said. Another student, who wishes to stay anonymous, said, “I don’t like the dining hall options and their hours”.
Olyvia Green, a Summer Challenge student from Kentucky said, “The food’s amazing but I still think the room needs A/C. But I think it is okay for living.” Christina Morgan, from Seattle, agreed with Green, saying, “I would love living here for college.”
Almost all of the high school students here at Boston University love the Warren Towers, and agree that it exceeds their expectations, some even saying they are thinking about coming to BU because they loved it here.
